Walker family band fiddle camp
This month I went to fiddle camp with the Walker Family Band. I brought my violin, cello, and mom's guitar, and had six classes a day, with occasional breaks; Breakfast, Lunch, recess, and dinner. I am displayed in the final concert in a cello trio. I'm in between Scott Walker (Right), and Linda Minke (Left). First I go to an advanced guitar class with Scott (Not that Scott, we call him Scooter), where we learn chords (e.g. Edim, E9, C#9, and C#6), and tunes. Next I bring my cello to a chamber ensemble with Linda Minke. Then I go to an advanced fiddle class with Matt Brown, where I learned: Islander's Farewell, New 5 Cent Piece, and Blackberry Blossom. Then I have lunch. Then I had a cello class. I was the only cellist besides Scott himself, so we started a trio with Linda, and played for the final concert! Next I take my cello to another ensemble with Matt. Finally I play my violin in an advanced irish class with Scott. We have special events: a jam session every night, a bonfire on Friday, kayaking on Thursday, and swimming any time we want! I had a fun time there, and I look forward to going back!

Nice report, Benny! I am glad I met you and that we played music together. I hope to see you next summer, if not sooner! Don't forget about thumb position....Peace, Linda
Hi Benny!
I sure hope you come back next summer too! It was terrific getting to know you and having such a fine musician at our camp. I'm glad you enjoyed it and want to come back again! If you are cool with it, I would love to post a link to your blog on our website. I think other kids who are looking for a fun music camp would appreciate getting a first hand review of your experience at the Walker Family Band Music Camp!
Hope you enjoy the tunes you learned for many years to come!
Love, Teresja
Benny,
I really enjoyed reading your post about camp. It was wonderful to meet you, your sister, and your Mom. I am really glad you were in my fiddle class and the traditional ensemble. Enjoy the rest of your summer. I look forward to seeing you again, and playing lots more music together.
your friend,
Matt Brown
Sounds like you had a wonderful time. And what a wonderful camp! What a blessing to share with others the gift of music.
Have a good school year!
